Magazine article planning and interview questions

Article plan

Interview questions.

The interview questions I have chosen to be based upon a chilled, but quirky interview. I really want to
make the magazine easy to read, but also informative about the bands that are included. I have chosen some of the questions based above and others I have made in the moment to keep a steady flow to the interview. Below I have included the the interview questions and answers that I think would be right for what I want.

So Beth you’re back again! The world of music has been questioning your return.      “I know, I know I have been away for some time, but not without reason”!
Yes we’ve been rumoured that you’re releasing a new album for the summer of 2013, is that your plan?
“Well, I have been keeping things on the low for a while and not specifying what’s going on in my future album plans, but I’m guessing the secrets out. So yes, it’s true, hopefully around June it’ll be on the shelf of music stores”.
Is this giving thumbs up for another tour then?
“We’ll have to see. I’m still recovering from the last one! Six countries and about 4 hours sleep”, she informs us with a giggle.
What were the worst and bests parts about your last tour ‘Vertigo’?
“Oh wow I don’t even know, probably the lack of sleep and the fact that I lived of fast food for the whole tour were the worst bits, but the best bits are obvious really; the performing, and the rush from all of my supporters just wanting to be at my gig, also I got to see amazing places along the way! It outweighed the bad parts by far; I’d do it all again exactly the same”.
That sounds incredible; you’ve got everyone jealous now! So Beth there have been a few questions sent into us at Reform and we were wondering if you’d be okay with taking them on?
“Yeah sure, do your worst”. Going on to confirm it with a laugh.
Right question one: Sophie from Bath wants to know what’s been your most embarrassing moment while performing?
“Right, that’s quite straight forward because I have a very distinct one in mind. It was probably my 5th or 6th gig and I had been drinking lots of fizzy drinks before the show, so because I am very talented at what I do I had to stop part way through a song and excuse myself to burp offstage. Not one of my best moments”.
Question2: Dylan from Cambridge asked what is your main inspiration for your music?
“I just try and put the situations that I go through into my music, so sometimes it’s other peoples or something I merely see, but it’s usually relevant to me. I like to think that it ties in with what other people feel and go through too, so that it brings a connection between them and my music. And really that’s another part of my inspiration, just knowing I can be involved with other peoples life without even knowing them”.
Question 3: Lauren from Blackpool wondered who your five favourite artists are at the moment.
“See I like music from most genres, so it’s always tricky cause I pretty much always have about ten or more favourite artists on the go at once. So I guess if I had to narrow it down it would be… Eminem, because he is brilliant at what he does, I found him pretty iconic, Frank Ocean; what an original voice and style, just love it. Maybe Led Zeppelin cause I’ve been having a bit of a revelation with my music to theirs at the moment. The last two would have to be a bit of Bob Dylan because he’s just one of my all-time favourites, what a star. And the last one is quite a new singer, who I have grown attached to, of course Lana Del Rey”.
Okay Beth, so we know about the present you, but have you always been this musical?
“Actually yes, I have been pretty much tied to music since I could make sense of it. When I was quite young my parents were the main influence on what instruments I played, but by the age of around eleven years old I started to become my own boss of music, and from then on I have just played and played and played”!

Five Line Paragraph: Music Magazine

Reform's Five Line Paragraph

Reform is a music magazine aimed at indie, alternative and folk music, but this months issue is based on blues and soul to celebrate there return. Reform magazine has a slick indie house style, but can incorporate any genre into it depending on the issues focus. With Reform magazine it is providing the music that the audience wants and making sure they are satisfied with our approach to their favourite bands and artists. Our house style is easy going and not overly detailed but we keep it slick and tied in with what we think our audience like. And at Reform we talk to the readers through the magazine in language that everyone feels comfortable with, while making sure we can crack a joke or two along the way.

Masthead flat plans and final version

  Masthead flat plans

Final

The masthead above is the final version that I have used for my 'music magazine', and I have stuck to the original design that I chose. With drop caps at either end, and also the gaps in the actual letters are filled with colour according to the front cover's picture, house theme etc. I used the font Veron from the website Dafont.
